On this day, 33 years ago, my oldest child was born.
On this day they hid her from me.
On this day, for 22 years, I cried.
On this day, for 22 years, I made a wish.
On this day, 15 years ago, I baked a birthday cake and started the search.
On this day, 10 years ago, we shared her birthday for the very first time.
On this day, today, I have my beautiful daughter in my life and I can smile.
Carlynne,
ReplyDeleteOn April 16th 44 years ago my daughter was born and lost to adoption. We have been reunited for almost eight years. While we both realize that it will never be as it should have been we are learning to love each other more and more everyday. It is something to smile about. I am glad you can share that feeling.
Thanks for writing Janet. I'm so glad you and your daughter are reunited! Reunion can be hard and it doesn't fix or take away what was done to us but it can be wonderful. I'm very glad there are more mothers and daughters/sons finding each other and making reunion something to smile about.
DeleteWhat a beautiful tribute Carlynne!
ReplyDeleteThanks Susie :)
DeleteOh Carolynn, I love the writing under the candle. It compresses everything. Hugs from another mother.
